Comets Win at Nashua, 8-6
|
Kalamazoo first baseman Noel Weatherhead contributed significantly to his team's 8-6 win over the Nashua Sweepers. Weatherhead went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Comets. The winning pitcher was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Jim Unknown. He tossed 94 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. Earning his 1st save for Kalamazoo was Jim Unknown.
In the top of the fifth, Kalamazoo shortstop Justin Burson had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Nashua hurler Mark Kurzawski, Burson grounded out, driving in 1 run. That made the score 6-4, Kalamazoo. For the day, Burson was 1-3 with 2 walks.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Kalamazoo manager Morgan Van Dyke.
Kalamazoo, with the win, climbs to 13-29.
