16-15 Long Beach Loss Tarnishes Morgan's Fine Effort
The Mexico City Aztecs outlasted Justin Morgan and the Long Beach Keys, 16-15. Morgan was impressive in the loss. The Long Beach second baseman was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Bobby Cosby in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jim Unknown took the loss. The save was Ken Griffey's, his 7th.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Roland Clement came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Long Beach pitcher Jim Unknown, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mexico City on top, 16-15.

"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Ron Kunkleman.
