Bowsers Score Late to Beat Comets, 5-4
|
In a close game at Ballpark of Columbus, the Columbus Bowsers edged the Kalamazoo Comets, 5-4. Columbus designated hitter Raul Rivera stood apart with his performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Columbus pitcher Brian Ashley got the win, upping his record to 3-3. Jim Unknown got the loss. Joel Racinowski was credited with the save for Columbus, his 1st of the season.
An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the eighth. That's when Bowsers first baseman Jake Willison hit a fastball from Jim Unknown for a 2-run single. Just like that, Columbus was up, 5-4.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Kalamazoo manager Malcolm Griffin.
The Bowsers now have a mark of 22-19.
