Comets Come Up Short at Weedpatch, 2-1
In a tight tilt between the Weedpatch Widowmakers and the Kalamazoo Comets, Bill Flores was the deciding factor. The Weedpatch right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Flores yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-4. Oliver Wood got credit for the save for Weedpatch. It was his 7th of the year.

The Widowmakers got a big hit from right fielder Josh Matthews. Facing Kalamazoo pitcher Jim Unknown in the bottom of the fifth, Matthews pounded a solo home run to left. His 1st home run of the season put the Widowmakers ahead, 2-0.

"Every loss stings," said Kalamazoo manager Malcolm Griffin. "This one is no exception."

The Widowmakers saw their win-loss record go to 16-18. At the same time, the Comets fell to 15-19.
