Kalamazoo center fielder Mike Petty had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-4, to White Deer at Wizards Stadium. Petty was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. Their 20-12 record puts the Tropics second in the Southern A West Division.

White Deer used the timely hitting of Jimmy Olivares to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Tropics on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame remarks, Olivares said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
