Winchel Powers Widowmakers to 9-2 Win
The Weedpatch Widowmakers pinned a convincing loss on the Louisville Sweepers, 9-2, at Miller Park. Mike Winchel was a main factor in the win. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for Weedpatch. The winner was Joey Dykema, who threw 91 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 2 hits. Brian Anderson picked up the save, his 1st.

Weedpatch used a well-timed hit by Tony Thomas to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Widowmakers ahead, 6-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Thomas.

The third-place Widowmakers bumped their record to 14-17.
