Widowmakers Deal Sweepers 9-7 Loss
The Weedpatch Widowmakers beat the Louisville Sweepers, 9-7 -- though it took them 13 innings. Weedpatch center fielder Ed Woodside had a pretty good game. He was 2 for 6 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The winner was David Tirado in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Ray Sauer took the loss. The Widowmakers, at 20-10, lead by one game in their division.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the 13th for Weedpatch. That's when Steve Maltman hit a 2-run home run off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ray Sauer to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Maltman. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
