Freese Shines in 13-5 Dollywood Win
|
With designated hitter Colby Freese leading the charge, the Dollywood Partons defeated the Long Beach Keys, 13-5, at Long Beach Grounds. Freese, who is tied for 7th in the S-A with a .444 on-base percentage, went 2-3 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Tyler Wright got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Long Beach is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 10 in a row.
Dollywood used the clutch hitting of Max Benitez to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Partons the lead, 7-5. For the game, Benitez had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Same old, same old, unfortunately," said losing manager Ron Kunkleman.
