Lumberjacks Raise Rally Flag, Beat London, 5-2
|
The Bangor Lumberjacks topped the London Werewolves, 5-2, in Southern A action at Werewolves Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Bangor pitcher and Dallas, Texas, native Carlos Loera. Bangor reliever Tim Suttle picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Albert Garcia was tagged with the loss. The save was credited to Steve Ray, his 8th.
Bangor used a clutch hit from John Jimenez to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lumberjacks ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said London manager Adrian Mercado.
With the loss, London sinks to 16-10.
