In a tight contest between the Barrie Admirals and the Kalamazoo Comets, Tommy Daniello was the determining factor. The Barrie right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-1 win. The winner was Barrie reliever Marco Garcia, now 3-0. The loser was Jim Unknown. Kalamazoo, at 6-17, is off to a poor start in 2024.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Nick Nunley was at the plate when Barrie scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Admirals to go in front, 2-1.
"Pedal to the metal" is how Barrie manager Manny Uset described his team's approach.
