Partons Get Past Columbus, 3-2
|
The 3-2 Dollywood win over Columbus was due largely to Jim Henkemeyer. The Partons shortstop was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. The win went to Kyle Julias in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Cody Knipple took the loss. The win brings the Partons to 13-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Henkemeyer had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a 0-2 slider from Cody Knipple, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Partons a 3-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Henkemeyer.
"Winning is contagious," said Henkemeyer. "We're looking forward to the next game."
