Bowsers Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
The Columbus Bowsers converted a terrific effort from starter Pat Higginbotham into a win over the Kalamazoo Comets at Wizards Stadium. The Bowsers won the game by a final score of 5-2. Higginbotham, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 2nd save for Columbus was Joey Byler.

Columbus used the hitting of Bill Highsmith to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bowsers on top, 5-2. For the game, Highsmith had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I liked the focus, I liked the effort," said Bowsers manager Joe Mills.

The Bowsers, with just their 5th win so far in 2023, have yet to catch fire.
