In a low-scoring contest, Mexico City pitcher Steve Sharkey was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-0 win. Sharkey, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Bobby Fawbush finished to wrap up his 1st save.

The Werewolves had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Aztecs going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Tony Thomas came to the plate. Thomas hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 sinker from London hurler Jose Sanches. It was Thomas's 4th home run of the year.

Mexico City manager Tony Velez commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
