Long Beach Dispatched, 6-1, by Mexico City
|
The Mexico City Aztecs topped the Long Beach Keys, 6-1, in Southern A action at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Mexico City pitcher and Spearman, Texas, native Dustin Engstrom. Josh DeYoe earned the save for Mexico City, his 1st. At 7-1, the Aztecs have played well so far.
Mexico City took a 6-1 lead on Justin McCoy's 2nd double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which McCoy hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Long Beach pitcher Jim Unknown visibly frustrated.
"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Ron Kunkleman, the Long Beach manager.
