Sweepers Score Late, Stun Comets, 8-5
|
Louisville and Kalamazoo duked it out and the Sweepers came out victorious.
The Louisville Sweepers stopped the Kalamazoo Comets, 8-5, behind an impressive performance from Mike Campbell. The 23-year old second baseman made life miserable for Kalamazoo pitching. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Earning his 1st save for Louisville was Mike Hall.
Axel Hirneisen was 1-3 with a walk for Louisville. The 25-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jim Unknown. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Kalamazoo skipper Morgan Van Dyke said.
With the win, Louisville lifts its record to 3-1.
