Bowsers Earn Late Win
Due in part to designated hitter Carlos Ruiz, the Columbus Bowsers chopped down the Louisville Sweepers, 7-6, in 10 innings. Ruiz went 2-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 3 times. Columbus reliever Brian Ashley was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Mike Hietala took the loss. The defeat makes Louisville 1-2.

Columbus got a clutch hit from Bill Demers. The pinch hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

"The crowd was raucous," said Demers.
