Jet Hawks Down Ambassadors, 5-1

The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks downed the Fremont Ambassadors, 5-1, at Ballpark of Fremont. Stellar pitching by Scott Barth had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who leads the N-A in wins with 14, handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Barth. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Ferhat Chiwocha. Juan Santana closed the door for Grand Rapids, picking up his 19th save of the year.
Ben Porter cracked a home run off Ferhat Chiwocha in the top of the fifth. His 2-run blast put the Jet Hawks on top, 3-1. In all, Porter had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Barth.
The Jet Hawks, at 101-39, sit in first place in the Northern A East Division.
