Flyers Lose By a Run at Kansas City
|
Kansas City beat Newark on the strength of starting pitcher Matt Sandridge's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Sandridge, now 3-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 11, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Jesse Tuuri closed it out for Kansas City, earning his 9th save.
The Dust Devils got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jonathan Stahler. For the game, Stahler went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 3-1 lead.
Kansas City manager Tim Cargill called it "a pretty good win."
The Dust Devils now have a record of 38-100.
