Miners Walk It Off for 95th Win of Season
|
Miners fans were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
The Glace Bay Miners defeated the Huntsville Rockets, 8-4, in part because of catcher Josh Mahan. Mahan slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for the Miners. Glace Bay reliever Rich Wade picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Rich Sargent absorbed the loss.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Mahan hit a cutter from Rich Sargent for a grand slam home run. The Miners, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Said Mahan: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
Glace Bay goes to 95-42. The win puts them 8 games up in their division.
