Newark and San Antonio took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The Newark Flyers beat the San Antonio Stallions, 8-5, at Alamo Field. Newark first baseman Joaquin Gomez banged out 3 singles and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Reliever Jesse Eves picked up the win. His record improves to 6-2. Malachi Morrison took the loss.

Newark used the timely hitting of Edwin Arroyo to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Flyers on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Arroyo said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

The Flyers are now 79-53, while the Stallions fall to 74-58.
