Miners Need Extra Innings to Top Flyers, 6-5
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Glace Bay Miners and Newark Flyers.

The Glace Bay Miners outlasted the Newark Flyers, 6-5, in 10 innings. Glace Bay designated hitter Kevin Sevener stood out with his performance. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times. The win was credited to 23-year old right-handed pitcher R.J. Ward in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Jeff Reade took the loss.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Sevener hit a fastball from Jeff Reade for a run-scoring double. The Miners, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said Sevener.
