Tight Tilt Goes to Jet Hawks, 4-3
|
Grand Rapids registered a win at Jet Hawks Ballpark by beating the Santa Rosa Desperados, 4-3. Pitcher Rick Collins was one reason why the Jet Hawks triumphed. Jim Unknown, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. The victory gives Grand Rapids a record of 75-52.
Chris Swain had a big run-scoring double for the Jet Hawks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Grand Rapids leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Ken Fox and swatted a double to left. It was his 37th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Jet Hawks ahead, 4-0.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Grand Rapids manager Sadayuki Nishikawa. "That's what Rick is right now."
