Streaking Miners Win Another One, 7-4
|
Glace Bay Miners starter Brian Wilkey pitched effectively against the Tampa Capitals at Miners Memorial Bowl. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 7-4 win. The winning pitcher was Wilkey, now 12-4. He tossed 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7. Rich Wade picked up the save, his 8th.
Making an impact for the home team was Keith DiPiazza. In the bottom of the third, the 24-year old third baseman had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 2-0, Miners.
"It was a solid team effort," said DiPiazza after the game.
Glace Bay is now 90-37, 10½ games up in the Northern A East Division.
