Tampa center fielder R.J. DeStefano was instrumental in helping the Capitals triumph, 7-3, over the Newark Flyers. DeStefano went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. Eric Volmar got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. The Capitals now have a record of 61-65 with the win over Newark.
Everett Foley had a big 3-run home run for the Capitals in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Tampa leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a cutter from Kyle Sandor, who is tied for 5th in the N-A with a 10.0 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Capitals on top, 6-1.
