Flyers Win at Cottage City, 14-3
The Newark Flyers had no problem beating the Cottage City Cannonballers, 14-3, at Cannonballers Ballpark. Alex Ochoa led the way. He was 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for Newark. Ryan Johnson, the winner, improved to 8-4. He held the Cannonballers to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Jeremy Kirkpatrick, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.

With Newark leading 6-2 in the top of the eighth, Ochoa came up to bat against Cottage City pitcher Jim Unknown. Ochoa hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 29th home run of the season put the Flyers on top, 10-2.

"We knocked the fire out of the ball," said Newark manager Carlos Almendarez. "The guys swung the bats pretty good, and that's fun to see."
