The performance of Mike Gallant proved critical in helping Santa Rosa beat Cottage City, 7-2. The Desperados left fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was John Manship. He tossed 81 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits. Kelly Powell got credit for the save for Santa Rosa. It was his 1st of the year.
Pete Horne had a big bases-clearing triple for the Desperados in the bottom of the first inning. With Santa Rosa leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Brian Miller and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Desperados ahead, 4-0.
"It feels good to get this one," Gallant told the Santa Rosa Daily.
