The Tampa Capitals rode a solid performance from 22-year-old starting pitcher Andy Espindola to a win, beating the Newark Flyers, 5-1, at Capitals Ballpark. In 6.1 innings, Espindola surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. David Robertson was credited with the save, his 4th in 5 tries.

Tied up with the Flyers in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Capitals got a boost from right fielder Mark Hinkel. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hinkel saw a first pitch slider from Alexis Garcia and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Tampa on top, 3-1.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Capitals manager Matt Kaczmarczyk.

The third-place Flyers now sit at 61-62.
