Capitals Pick Up 4-3 Road Win Over Huntsville
|
The Huntsville Rockets could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Joe Brackett into a win. Instead, the Tampa Capitals prevailed, 4-3. Brackett threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Chris Davies was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. The second-place Rockets dropped to 67-56.
Tampa used the timely hitting of Ivan Valenzuela to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Capitals ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Valenzuela, "one at-bat at a time."
