The Huntsville Rockets faced a tough opponent in Grand Rapids pitcher Chris Soto, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Austin by a final score of 4-3. Soto went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Luke Walley locked down his 18th save. By defeating Grand Rapids, the first-place Rockets improved to 75-47.

The Jet Hawks had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Rockets going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old second baseman Justin Perez came to the plate. Perez hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from Grand Rapids hurler Satoshi Nishiyama. It was Perez's 19th double of the year.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Perez, "one at-bat at a time."
