Desperados Take Tight Tangle
|
The Santa Rosa Desperados picked up a win at Ballpark of Fremont, taking down the Fremont Ambassadors, 4-3. Starting pitcher Matt Brown was a big reason why. Matt Mullins, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-2. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 0.2 innings. Zack Vandermark earned the save for Santa Rosa, his 13th of the year.
Santa Rosa used the timely hitting of Jim Young to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Desperados on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Santa Rosa manager Angel Cano.
The win makes Santa Rosa 78-42.
