Desperados Pull Off Thrilling 3-2 Win in Extras
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Santa Rosa Desperados and the Fremont Ambassadors, Randy Fischer, who is tied for 8th in the N-A with a 2.93 ERA, proved to be the difference. The Santa Rosa right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Desperados win. The Desperados move to 74-44 with the win, while the Ambassadors drop to 33-85.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 13th, 25-year old catcher Bill Martz had a chance to be the hero. Fremont pitcher Jim Unknown had other ideas. But with no outs, Martz drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Desperados had themselves a dramatic win.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager John McNair.
