Rockets Lose at Home, 3-1
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Newark Flyers and Huntsville Rockets.
Eddie Sarabia, who is tied for 8th in the N-A in complete games with 1, never let the Rockets get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Flyers to a win, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Sarabia, now 6-1. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Chris Cowles earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
Newark used the clutch hitting of Billy Sawyer to snag the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Flyers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Newark manager Carlos Almendarez called it "a good, solid win."
The Flyers lead the Northern A East Division by 8½ games.
