Desperados Topple Dust Devils, 8-3, as Evert Shines
|
The Santa Rosa Desperados knocked off the Kansas City Dust Devils, 8-3, at Kansas City Grounds. Matt Evert was a big reason Santa Rosa won. The shortstop went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Idhma Kodandarami picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Gilberto Vergara, who is tied for 2nd in the N-A in holds with 11, was tagged with the loss. The victory gives the Desperados a record of 72-44.
Jose Sanchez went 1 for 3 with 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for Santa Rosa. The 22-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Gilberto Vergara. It was his 4th walk of the season.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Evert told the Santa Rosa Daily.
