Flyers Take Tight Tangle
|
The Newark Flyers picked up a win at Newark Fields, knocking off the San Antonio Stallions, 4-3. Starting pitcher Ryan Johnson was a big reason why. Newark goes to 80-36. The win puts them 8½ games up in their division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Newark second baseman Jim Spiegel, facing Gabe Calloway, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Flyers the 4-3 win.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Spiegel said.
