Ambassadors Tuck Away 8-5 Win Over St. Catharines
|
Fremont shortstop Henry Nunez contributed significantly to his team's 8-5 win over the St. Catharines Blue Jays. Nunez went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Ambassadors. Jorge Torres got credit for the win, improving to 7-4. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 6.2 innings. Jeff Maggard collected save number 8.
The Blue Jays had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Ambassadors going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old third baseman Ryan Clark came to the plate. Clark hit a bases-clearing triple on a 0-1 fastball from St. Catharines hurler Dusty Berger. It was Clark's 1st triple of the year.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Nunez, "one at-bat at a time."
Fremont is now 62-49, St. Catharines 68-43.
