Flyers Drop Jet Hawks, 5-2
|
Newark and Grand Rapids duked it out and the Flyers came out victorious.
Behind the hitting of Kyle Resko, the Newark Flyers defeated the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks, 5-2. Resko went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Flyers. Bobby Maestas, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 10-4. Mike Garst got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.
The Flyers benefited from a costly error in the top of the fifth. With Brad Folsy at bat and Newark leading 1-0, the Grand Rapids miscue allowed Newark to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Newark manager Matt Conners.
With the win, Newark goes to 68-45, while the Jet Hawks fall to 82-31.
