Rockets Come Up Short at Santa Rosa, 3-2
|
Santa Rosa parlayed a decent outing from starter Ricky Fernandez into a solid win over the Huntsville Rockets. The final score was 3-2. Shissho Matsuno, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 14th save. The second-place Desperados sport a record of 67-40.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Desperados had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when left fielder Pete Horne hit a 2-run home run. The home run came off Aaron O'Brien and made the score 3-0, Desperados. Horne was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"That's baseball," said Huntsville manager Tim Hodgson. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
