Ambassadors Suffer 5-2 Road Loss
|
A good performance from left fielder Caleb Herd helped the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks defeat the Fremont Ambassadors, 5-2. Herd was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Jet Hawks. Getting the save was James Straughn, his 16th. Grand Rapids raised its record to 58-48 with the win.
Herd contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Grand Rapids in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Herd took a curveball from Mitsukuni Kishi and stroked the home run to right. His 19th home run of the season allowed the Jet Hawks to leap in front, 3-1.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Herd. "It sure beats the alternative."
