Due in large part to first baseman Javy Villapando, the Fremont Ambassadors sunk the Tampa Capitals, 7-4. Villapando went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Micah Brown snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 3-4 on the season. The third-place Ambassadors now have a record of 43-59.
Villapando had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count splitter from Dave Velez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Ambassadors a 7-4 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Villapando.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Villapando. "You've got to get results."
