Miners Rally For Late Win Over Capitals
|
The Glace Bay Miners faced a tough opponent in Tampa pitcher Luke Lodge, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Capitals Ballpark by a final score of 4-1. Lodge went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Glace Bay reliever Brian Wilkey picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Mike Kendra took the loss. With the win, the Miners sit at 62-37.
Aaron Preston delivered a big hit for Glace Bay. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Miners ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Enjoyed this one," Preston told the Glace Bay Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
