The 11-5 Glace Bay win over Newark was due in large part to Jose Garza. The Miners left fielder went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The Flyers, now 48-50, have lost 4 straight.
In the top of the first, Mike Mitchell delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Glace Bay right fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Miners in front, 11-5.
"The key is not trying to do too much," said Garza.
