Larry Weese never let Santa Rosa get something going. The Glace Bay right-hander commanded his sinker in pitching the Miners to a 3-1 win. Cory Crabtree was credited with the save, his 15th in 18 tries. Glace Bay, at 71-27, is cruising.

Craig Carson had a big 2-run home run for the Miners in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Glace Bay leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Greg Ricketts and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Miners on top, 3-0.

"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Angel Cano.
