Flyers Take Home 3-1 Win Over Huntsville
|
The Newark Flyers went home winners at Newark Fields, thanks in large part to starter Keith Jong. Jong stifled the Huntsville Rockets, enabling Newark to grab the 3-1 win. Cory Hobbs got the save, his 1st in 3 chances. Newark is now 50-48, Huntsville 59-39.
The Flyers got a big at-bat from shortstop Chris Huseman. For the game, Huseman went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 29th home run of the season gave Newark a 2-1 lead.
"Keith made his pitches," said Newark manager Matt Conners.
