Miners Win at Huntsville, 3-2
|
The Glace Bay Miners topped the Huntsville Rockets, 3-2, in Northern A action at Ballpark of Austin. The standout performance belonged to Glace Bay pitcher and San Felipe, Costa Rica, native Freddy Vazquez. Steve Oswald earned his 11th save in 12 chances. The Miners have an impressive 57-36 record.
Glace Bay used the hitting of Jim Kaufman to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Miners on top, 3-0. For the game, Kaufman had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We were in it," said Huntsville manager Alec Roller. "We just didn't score enough runs."
