The bats were silent much of the day at Jet Hawks Ballpark. But 23-year old left fielder Jim Foote produced just enough offense to carry the Miners past the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks, 3-0. Foote went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times. The loss makes Grand Rapids 51-43.

Glace Bay used the timely hitting of Leo Cortez to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Miners on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Foote.
