Cannonballers Get Clonked by Miners, 4-2
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Glace Bay Miners and Cottage City Cannonballers.
The Glace Bay Miners locked up a win at Miners Memorial Park, knocking off the Cottage City Cannonballers, 4-2. On the mound for Glace Bay was right-hander Will Gardner. He played a major role in the triumph. With the win, Glace Bay pushed its record to 59-34.
First Baseman Kevin Sevener made an impact for Glace Bay, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Tim Iden in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Sevener was 2 for 4 with a double.
"I'm happy we won," said Gardner. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
