Dust Devils Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Kansas City Dust Devils rode a solid performance from 21-year-old starting pitcher Armando Tamayo to a win, beating the Huntsville Rockets, 2-1, at Kansas City Grounds. Tamayo got the win, improving to 5-6. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. The defeat makes Huntsville 47-44.
The Dust Devils got an important contribution from first baseman Ryan Kreger, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a full count fastball to left for a run-scoring double. It was his 23rd double of the season and put the Dust Devils ahead, 2-0.
Kansas City manager Jaden White commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
