Blue Jays Squelch Cannonballers Offense in Shutout Win
|
The St. Catharines Blue Jays picked up a win at Engineers Ballpark, knocking off the Cottage City Cannonballers, 6-0. Starting pitcher David Tirado played a key role in the triumph. Tirado picked up the win for St. Catharines, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-5. St. Catharines is now 51-36, 6 games up in the Northern A West Division.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from left fielder Mike Odendahl. For the game, Odendahl was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 14th double of the season gave St. Catharines a 1-0 lead.
Odendahl told a St. Catharines Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
