Ambassadors Drop Cannonballers, 8-7
|
The Fremont Ambassadors withstood a fine game by Cottage City first baseman John Campbell at Ballpark of Fremont, to upend the Cannonballers, 8-7. Campbell was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Micah Brown picked up the save for Fremont, his 1st of the year. The 5th-place Ambassadors bumped their record to 26-61.
Justin Steltenpohl took Cottage City hurler Jacob Hodge deep in the bottom of the sixth. His grand slam home run put the Ambassadors on top, 8-6. In all, Steltenpohl had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Steltenpohl. "You've got to get results."
