Greg Brando imposed his will on the Trolls from the get-go. Relying mainly on his splitter, the right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 Santa Rosa triumph. Brando, the winner, moves to 5-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Eduardo Garcia recorded the save for Santa Rosa, his 10th of the season.

The Trolls had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Desperados going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old right fielder Collin Mays came to the plate. Mays hit a solo home run on a 1-0 splitter from Tyler hurler Charlie Hunter. It was Mays's 1st home run of the year.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Mays said after the game.

The second-place Desperados lifted their record to 57-29.
