Due in large part to catcher George Gericke, the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks sunk the St. Catharines Blue Jays, 7-3. Gericke went 2-4 with 2 home runs. Eddie Clickner earned the save, his 24th in 25 tries. Grand Rapids is second in the Northern A East Division with a record of 54-31.
Grand Rapids used the timely hitting of Caleb Herd to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Jet Hawks ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I felt good about my swing," said Gericke.
